All three destinations sit on the Ceará coast and share dunes, wind and turquoise water — but they have quite different personalities when it's time to decide where to spend the trip.
Fortim sits about 135 km from Fortaleza — the closest of the three — and keeps a small fishing-village scale, with less tourist infrastructure and traffic than Canoa Quebrada and Jericoacoara. It's the natural choice for anyone after quiet without giving up quality wind sports.
About 30 minutes by buggy from Fortim, Canoa Quebrada has more established tourist infrastructure, a shopping boardwalk and livelier nightlife — a good fit for anyone who wants to mix beach with buzz, and it's even doable as a day trip from Fortim.
Jericoacoara sits on Ceará's west coast, much farther from both Fortim and Fortaleza, and is the most internationally known of the three — which also means more crowds and higher prices during peak season.
Anyone wanting both styles in one trip tends to combine a quieter stay in Fortim with a shorter stop in Jeri on the same itinerary, since doing both in one day isn't realistic given the distance.
